We give young women and girls the means to be heard, the tools to move forward, and the power to get loud.

Our Mission

The Girls In Music Initiative supports scholarships, experiences, and opportunities that are aligned in a mission to inspire performance in those who might not otherwise have the stage. From the classroom to the boardroom, on the mic or behind the mixer, from the orchestra pit to mosh pit, we work so that everyone can take their rightful place in shaping the future of music.

Spotlight: Kailey Tenn

The D’Addario Music Business Scholarship at Hofstra University is at the intersection of opportunity, resource, and recognition. Kailey Tenn is a sterling example of the high-achieving students majoring in music business who have received the scholarship, and given her industry experience and percussionist chops, is an ideal mentor for a new generation of girls entering music.

Programs Supported

The programs and partners of the initiative foster professional and creative growth and, in the process, transform a once-uphill battle for recognition into an empowering and fruitful practice of garnering identity, confidence, and accomplishment.

A Note From Our Director

“Music is a universally powerful tool for self-expression and self-empowerment. The D’Addario Foundation hopes to encourage and nurture more female musicians. It is our goal to help promote more music created by women, and foster new opportunities that enable more young women to thrive in the music industry and beyond.” - Suzanne D'Addario Brouder
